What is JUVEDERM ® Injectable Gel ?

JUVEDERM ® Injectable Gel is a naturally derived hyaluronic acid filler utilized in aesthetic medicine. JUVEDERM ® Injectable Gel is injected to fill in, smooth out, or plump up regions for the face that are experiencing the effects of aging. Most commonly used to fill in the naso-labial folds, Juvederm is also utilized in other "off-label" areas. The filler typically last for 6 months, however recently Allegan received FDA approval to say it may last for up to one year, after which the body simply absorbs it. Initially thought to be temporary, current research is starting to show that some collagen formation is stimulated.  We administer the filler after applying a local anesthetic, so little pain is experienced during application.
